The hubby and I are going to be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this summer and we would like to celebrate by going on a second honey moon. Okay, let's admit it - this would actually be our first "real" honey moon.
Honeymoon #1 was to a small little shack - The Firefly "Bed & Breakfast"* - in Port Clinton, OH. *Quotations added by me because although it did have a bed, there were spiders on it and there was NO breakfast. We ate breakfast both days (yes, we were only on our honey moon for TWO NIGHTS and really only one day) at McDonalds. The one whole day we were up there we went across the lake to an island that had a winery and rode around on a golf cart for awhile all while being attacked by these weird, firefly looking bugs. And, we didn't have the appreciation for wine that we have now, nor the resources to actually purchase it, so we didn't even stop at the winery.
So, with that trip down memory lane, let's make some new memories this year. Where should we go? It will be a long weekend - probably Thursday through Monday-ish - in June. We will most likely be taking a family vacation to the beach to visit some family, so although I would LOVE to go to the beach twice in one year, my hubby is not one to sweat for no good reason and he makes that clear.
We both love to hike, love beautiful scenery, adventurous food, a good local brew, cool concerts. Depending on how much tickets are, we would be willing to fly somewhere. If we were driving I wouldn't want to drive more than 6-8 hours away. We like to explore new places and somewhere close to a city or in a city would be great.
Any ideas???

We have both thought about somewhere in Colorado. Colorado Springs perhaps or Denver? We also both mentioned somewhere in California as well. I was thinking wine country and he mentioned San Diego.
Colorado Springs is BEAUTIFUL! Absolutely gorgeous.
Have you ever been to New England? That's something on our list -- Boston, Maine... Lots of stuff to do, and not quite so sweltering...
Charlottesville, VA totally sticks out to me for you two. they have SO MANY beautiful wineries in the area, an amazing brewery, so much cool stuff going on.... just a thought.
I was thinking the same thing as TL! C-ville is actually quite cultured and meets all of the criteria you mentioned.
Now, it doesn't sound as fun as Colorado or California. But, you could rest comfortably knowing that would be breathing the same Virginia area as TL and me. :)
Tim and I had a great time in NYC when we were there a few years ago. The place is constantly hopping.
Or, there is the Finger Lakes wine country also in New York.
I vote for Seattle! BEAUTIFUL (but not too sweat-provoking) in the summer, and we have all you listed and MORE. :) As as secondary shout-outs, I'd also recommend Portland, the Oregon Coast, or San Diego. All very fun places!!
