My friend, Tam, is training to compete in a half marathon to raise money through Team in Training for leukemia research and treatment.
Here are her inspirations:
Kaley Grace Shoemaker is a 6 year old and who has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She is currently in remission and has less than one year of treatment left! Kaley loves school, dance, gymnastics, and being a Girl Scout.
J.D. Stahl is a husband, father of two, member of a Presbyterian church and professor at Virginia Tech. Dr. Stahl has also been fighting chronic lymphocytic leukemia since March 2000. He is very thankful for the care he receives from his doctors, and also for the support from Team in Training.
Kaye Kriz is a wife, mother of one, and avid athlete. Despite being diagnosed with myeloma in 2005, Kaye has fought to stay active in numerous sports and races, including a Century Ride (or 100 mile bike ride) in Nevada this past summer. Kaye is currently undergoing another round of chemotherapy.
These are only three individuals fighting the battle against blood cancer diseases among thousands.
My buddy Jared (I recently blogged about him here) is also suffering from this disease and my BASIC leader, Don, from college is currently in remission from this disease as well as one of my volunteers from my previous job.
Please consider donating to Team in Training through Tam's website here.
She will appreciate it, but more importantly the people who live with this disease everyday will appreciate it.
Thank you!
