I have newfound appreciation for middle school and junior high band directors.
I practiced with our youth band at church Thursday night and our regular drummer wasn't able to make it. So, a late elementary age student (who has NEVER taken drum lessons or played drums before) decided he wanted to try to play the drums.
It was sonic torture and REALLY hard as a musician to even know what was going on, let alone be able to find the true beat in the midst of the random, loud beats of the drums behind me.
So, thank you middle school band directors in the world. Thank you for being willing to sit through what I would guess are torturous months/years of teaching our children how to play instruments. You have a calling and I do not envy it.
